Company, has been in business since 1982 providing fresh produce and other products to restaurants and other end users. Due to continued growth and expansion into the Houston market, we are currently accepting applications for Warehouse Same Day Utility Associate to work in our warehouse in Houston, TX. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3-months experience in a warehouse environment including picking, stocking, receiving, loading and unloading trucks, shrink-wrapping pallets, order inspection, and overall quality assurance; preferably handling fresh produce and/or food-grade products, in a refrigerated environment. Knowledge of warehouse management systems including RF scanner, stand-up forklift, and rider pallet jack, required; reach truck experience a plus. Rider pallet jack experience is REQUIRED.

Compensation

  • Average annual salary: $45,000 – $55,000/year which includes:
    • Hourly pay of $18.00/hour
    • Overtime after 40 hours per week; average work week 40-50 hours per week
    • Opportunities for advancement into Case Picker positions paying $55K-$60K/year
    • Weekly Paycheck

Work Schedule

  • 5-day work week; Sunday-Friday
  • Sunday is a full, mandatory work day; off every Saturday and one other day off during the week
  • Work 7am- 4pm or until the work is completed, typically 8-12 hours per day
  • Scheduled work days may include holidays, but will include holiday pay
  • Must be flexible with work schedule; scheduled work days/times can vary

Requirements

  • Each Utility Associate handles approximately 400-500 outgoing packages per shift.
  • Outgoing deliveries are placed on pallets and loaded onto trucks. On average, a Utility Associate loads 3-4 trucks per shift.
  • Each Utility Associate services approximately 100 customer orders per week.
  • Each Utility Associate can stock 3-4 trucks per shift

Responsibilities

  • Utilize warehouse management system to perform picking, stocking and put away processes
  • Check outgoing trucks for cleanliness and proper trailer temperature
  • Ensure accurate and quality products loaded onto route trucks
  • Report unacceptable product to Warehouse Supervisor for possible repack, disposal or credit
  • Safely load pallets onto route trucks ensuring that split cases are placed on top of other products to avoid damage
  • Maintain safe working environment by practicing proper lifting procedures and keeping work areas free of debris
  • Report any “short list” items to Warehouse Supervisor ASAP
  • Complete tasks in a timely, professional manner
  • Be dependable, on time for shift
  • Be reliable, work scheduled shifts
  • Must be able to legally work in the US
  • Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English
  • Must pass pre-hire drug screen and physical
  • Develop effective relationships with Operations Management, Warehouse Personnel, Drivers and Peer Group

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as warehouse worker; understanding of general warehouse operations required
  • Experience operating material handling equipment is preferred
  • Prior experience working in a freezer/refrigerated environment and/or working with fresh produce/food products is a plus
  • Candidate must pass pre-hire drug screen and physical
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English
  • Be in excellent physical condition and be able to stand, sit, kneel, bend, lift, push, pull for extended periods and have normal use of senses
  • Able to work in all types of environments and under difficult conditions; hot, cold, dust, indoors, outdoors
